Items of Deo Ca Tunnel, Co Ma Tunnel

Overview

Deo Ca Road Tunnel is a national key traffic construction, was recognized by the Ministry of Construction as one of the 5 national significant works for celebrating 60 anniversary of Vietnam construction industry day. This is the pride of Vietnamese people as it was the first time a large-scale road tunnel work constructed in BOT form with domestic capital by a private business. From the investor to the contractors of the work are Vietnamese.

The Project has total length of 13,9 km, starting from Km1353+150 (National Highway 1A) in Hoa Xuan Nam village, Dong Hoa (Phu Yen) and ending at Km1374+525 in Van Tho village, Van Ning (Khanh Hoa). Among this, Deo Ca tunnel route is 4.125m long, Co Ma tunnel route is 0,5 km long and 9,3 km path. Both routes have two tunnels designed 30m apart, each tunnel is 9,75m wide, including two lanes with safety strip and tunnel maintenance area, designed speed is 80km/hour.

Deo Ca tunnel is the current second large road tunnel on the North-South route, after the Hai Van road tunnel. This tunnel is located between Phu Yen province and Khanh Hoa province and was constructed from 2012. After 4 years of efforts, going through many challenges, in early September 2017, the work had been completed and put into operation 4 months before the deadline.

After starting the operation of Deo Ca road tunnel, time for passing the tunnel has been shorten from 45 minutes to only more than 10 minutes, completely resolved and removed dangerous black spots which easily cause traffic jam. The Deo Ca tunnel also create important connection with the southeastern key economic region; create momentum for development in industry, service, and tourism of the Central Coast region; motivate socio-economic development and ensure security-national defense in the Central-Central Highland of Vietnam.
