On September 22, 2023, the internal training department organized a training session on purchasing skills for trainees who are employees of the Vietnam Trade and Service Corporation (VNTRACO) and the procurement department of the Deo Ca Corporation and its subsidiary units. The training session was led by Associate Professor Nguyen Van Sang, the Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
The trainees in the training session were provided with systematically organized knowledge about purchasing operations, effective purchasing processes and plans, as well as laws and regulations related to procurement. According to this, the success factors of purchasing activities include effectively meeting diverse needs, pricing, supplier selection, negotiation, and evaluation of related factors.
The trainees discussed potential mistakes that can be made when purchasing goods
To ensure proactive purchasing, the procurement department must establish an administrative system including procurement categories, supplier evaluation, supplier profiles, and take control of the supply source by establishing long-term strategic relationships with high-quality and stable suppliers. They also need to build standard systems for supply, costs, and evaluation criteria..
Group discussion
In addition to criteria such as quantity, quality, and timeliness, purchasing activities also need to be optimized to eliminate waste and save costs for the company. With the "Learning by Doing" training method, combining theory and practical work, instructors and trainees interact directly with each other on real-life situations and assumptions related to the scope of work.
Group 4 presents the necessary documents for inspecting goods
The trainees were divided into 4 groups to discuss questions and provide answers based on their understanding and practical experience related to purchasing activities, such as common mistakes in purchasing, factors to consider when purchasing, how to choose the best supplier, and necessary documents for inspecting goods. Based on the answers provided by the groups, the instructors and trainees discussed, commented, and made suggestions to systematize the knowledge and provide the most complete answers.

At the end of the teaching content, the class shared their experiences and knowledge about purchasing skills and profession. Mr. Ho Dinh Chung, the General Director of VNTRACO, stated that this training topic was requested by the company to enhance the capabilities of the procurement department's staff to meet the upcoming workload that Deo Ca will undertake. VNTRACO is planned to be the trading unit specializing in supplying raw materials for the business operations of the Deo Ca Corporation. With a development strategy focusing on international projects in the upcoming period, the procurement department needs to continue to improve and enhance its capabilities to meet the needs of both domestic and international projects.
