HUMAN DEVELOPMENT IN DEOCA GROUP:

An insider's perspective

Dr. Ho Chi Dung has nearly 30 years of experience training people at the university level and has been working at DEOCA Group. With the desire for society to more properly recognize the contributions of businesses in human development in Vietnam, he shared an article on this issue.

“The true wealth of a country is its people" is the sentence written in a Report of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). I very much agree with this. A survey of a large number of Vietnamese enterprises will be needed to draw accurate conclusions. However, within the scope of this article, I use my observations and conclusions about what DEOCA Group has done to demonstrate the role mentioned above in the business.

Enhance the management capacity of the management team

The first is that the Group has fully funded and created favorable conditions for more than 30 strategic personnel to complete a 3-year Senior Executive Master of Business Administration program at a prestigious university. This directly improves these personnel's thinking and management methods, thereby contributing to a better working environment. The majority of employees, therefore, love and stick to their jobs more. In addition, this team of personnel also improves the efficiency of using the enterprise's resources. In other words, they know how to organize work to save costs for the Group. The obvious result is that users of transport infrastructure work that the Group invests in, constructs, or operates can use good quality products and services.

Enhance the professional capacity of employees

For direct employees, the Group cooperates with some colleges to periodically organize certificate-granting professional training programs. Up to now, hundreds of workers in the Group have completed these programs. They are unskilled workers who have become skilled people who can perform complex operations. Specifically, they are miners, drillers, concrete sprayers, machine drivers, and mechanics. When skilled, these workers have a more precise direction of life, work, and income. Theirs is also better improved. The Group is also promoting a professional training program for the team operating tunnels and highways. Through these programs, workers become more professional, improving their workplace efficiency and standing. Employees can take control of their life and work through timely and correct grasps of the development trends circling their field of work and creative, independent, and effective work.

Create the necessary foundation for the development of employees.

Employees' work and eating facilities are built comfortably and cleanly at any location where the Group implements a project. This job creates a good life for each employee. Specifically, they are assured of health and safety from which they can work and develop their abilities with peace of mind. In addition, the Group also helps employees to form and strengthen humanistic orientations and values for proper personal development. From there, they create and enhance their strength and the collective. An example can be mentioned as a management tool, "Accounting everyday life," such as resonating power, sharing difficulties, reducing waste, etc..

Contribute to improving quality and motivating students

The Group's preparation for the next generation of workers has positively impacted students and prospective students. The Group is coordinating with some schools to organize practical programs at projects for both lecturers and students. Through the programs, lecturers will have access to practice to improve their professional capacity and improve the school's training quality. Students practice with real work so they formwork skills, strengthen their confidence, and shorten the apprenticeship period when working at enterprises. The fact that the Group accompanies a university in building a new program on "Construction and management of traffic works," awarding a scholarship fund worth VND 1.5 billion to students with high achievements, and providing information on the recruitment needs of the Group has contributed to strengthening the confidence of the school's leadership, faculty and students planning to study this major. Thereby contributing to the development of a necessary industry for the country.

With the above, Deo Ca Group has properly implemented this orientation. Choice opportunities for employees in the Group and also for students at training units are expanded. Every individual has access to equity in health, knowledge, and skills. Employees work in a good environment, participate more, and have more opportunities to develop themselves. I also believe that there will be many Vietnamese businesses doing the same thing to contribute to the development of Vietnamese people, making our country strong.
