The investment project for the construction of Bac Giang – Lang Son City expressway at Km45+100 - Km108+500, including reinforcement of National Highway 1 road at Km1+800 - Km106+500 of Bac Giang province and Lang Son province is constructed under BOT contract.
Regarding the expressway component, the starting point of the project is at Km45+100 (National Highway 1, Sao Mai, Chi Lang, Lang Son); the ending point is at Km108 + 500, connecting with the ending point of the Hanoi – Bac Giang route in the National Highway 1 project. The total length of the expressway is 63,86km. Regarding the National Highway 1 component, the starting point is at Km1+800, in the area of Huu Nghi border gate, Lang Son; the ending point is at Km112+038,84, the conjunction between National Highway 1 and the expressway is at Km106+500 in Tan Dinh village, Bac Giang City. The total length of the route is 110,2km.
The project was started since March 2016 with the investor being Bac Giang - Lang Son BOT Investment Joint Stock Company. However, due to the weak capacity of this investor, during its execution, the project was delayed and did not meet requirements, causing argument in the public and affecting trust of localities where the project passes through. The 105km reinforcement component on National Highway 1 at Km1+800 – Km106+500 at the moment has been basically completed. It is expected that at the end of 2019, the new 64km construction will be completed and the whole route will be open in early 2020.
The project has the total invested capital of 12.188 billion Vietnamdong and is extremely important in the economic development, enhancing connectivity with China, being expected by the local people and the whole country.
