On January 11, 2022, in Da Nang, Hai Van Tunnel Operation Management Enterprise held 1 year anniversary of putting Hai Van 2 tunnel into operation (January 11, 2021 - January 11, 2022).
According to Mr. Truong Huu Nghia - Deputy Director of Hai Van Tunnel Operation Management Enterprise, in 2021, the Enterprise ensures the safety of 2,757,844 vehicles passing through the tunnel, timely rescue of 10 accidents in the tunnel, 11 vehicle collision on the southern leading road, 3 vehicle collisions on the north leading road and rescue 2 fire in the tunnel area. In the past time, the enterprise's fire fighting team has also participated in supporting fire fighting in neighboring localities, and was highly appreciated by local leaders.
Also at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy - General Director of Deo Ca Traffic Infrastructure Company said: "In 2021, we experienced major difficulties caused by epidemics and natural disasters. However, we have overcame those disadvantages to complete our work. Notably, in October 2021, after receiving the permission of the leaders of Deo Ca Group and the approval of the authorities, the tunnel opened to support more than 10 thousands of people go from the South to their hometown by motorbike. The support is organized in a strict manner and calculated carefully in every detail by the staff of the Company in order to ensure absolute safety for people when moving through the tunnel.
During this time, the Enterprise also encountered some difficulties caused by the Covid-19 epidemic. However, under the timely direction of the Board of Management, the employees of the Enterprise self-isolated in the control area in order to ensure stable production, avoid the risk of epidemic spreading. In addition, 100% of employees in the system are vaccinated against Covid-19 (2 doses). Every week, all employees are distributed Covid screening tests, ensuring a safe living and working environment in the factory.
Hai Van tunnel
The tunnel crossing Hai Van pass is an integrated traffic work including: roads, tunnels, bridges passing through Thua Thien Hue and Da Nang. The tunnel has a length of 6,292 km, the northern leading road is 1.79 km long and the southern path is 4.06 km long. When Hai Van 2 was put into use, it has contributed to reducing the vehicle volume for the old tunnel, shortening the time to go through the tunnel to 6 minutes compared to 15 minutes before, 39 minutes shorter than going on the pass road. Especially, it has contributed to limiting the unpredictable damage caused by traffic jams and accidents.
At the inauguration ceremony on January 11, 2021, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung affirmed: "The synchronous development of transport infrastructure is a major policy of the Party and State. In recent years, these traffic works has changed the face of traffic and contributed to developing the country’s economy. The opening of Hai Van 2 tunnel has great significance when it comes to shortening North-South traffic, reducing traffic accidents, promoting socio-economic development in the Central region, and opening up the East-West corridor”.
