Official Cu Mong tunnel breakthrough for vehicles to pass

On January 21st 2019, at North quarter of Cu Mong road tunnel, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province, Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee, Phu Yen Province People’s Committee, Ministry of Transport and Deoca Investment Joint Stock Company cooperated to organize Cu Mong tunnel breakthrough for vehicle to pass.

Cu Mong tunnel construction was putting into operation earlier than 2.5 months in comparison to March 31st, 2019 mark as approved by Ministry of Ministry. It is 1 of 4 national key transportation constructions (Cu Mong road tunnel, Cat Linh – Ha Dong railroad, Bac Giang – Lang Son highway, Vam Cong bridge) completed and put into operation.

This event had a huge meaning to regional transport connection, reduced traffic jam, accident for vehicles passing through the mountain pass. Such benefits were not only for Binh Dinh – Phu Yen people but also for National Highway 1 transportation network due to increasing in vehicles, trucks, passenger vehicle’s volume, increasing in goods transportation level. The route will become safer, more convenient in every environmental conditions and became one of the important factors for economic – social development of Middle of Vietnam region and nationally.

Cu Mong Mountain pass road tunnel project approved by the Government according to document no. 453/TTg-KTN on April 2nd, 2015 and Decision no. 2907/QD – BGTVT on August 12th, 2015. This was the last tunnel route in Deoca tunnel project (Including: Deoca, Co Ma, Cu Mong, Hai Van 2), with Deoca Investment Joint Stock Company as investor (Directly under Deoca Group). The tunnel’s total length is 6.62km, design velocity is 80km/hour, total investment amount is 3,921 billion VND (Performed from capital reducing amount of Deoca road tunnel project), under BOT method.

Cu Mong tunnel project was implemented from September 26th, 2015, technical tunnel breakthrough on January 16th, 2018. After 3-year of construction and receiving directive and support from leaders of the Party, Government, Ministry of Transport, Binh Dinh Province and Phu Yen Province Local Authorities, Deoca Investment Joint Stock Company leader, officer, staff, and worker collective always understood the huge responsibility in construction implementation and succeeded assigned completion of work quantity.

Cu Mong tunnel applied NATM tunnel excavation method of Austria, implemented by team of experienced engineers, workers built Deoca tunnel, Co Ma tunnel successfully before. In comparison with Deoca, geography in Cu Mong tunnel passing through mountain-pass construction site is more complex, rock layers were weathered immensely. However, difficulties, complexities on geography had been overcome and they had guaranteed to finish project on schedule. This is a category performed completely by Vietnamese.
