On August 27, 2019, basing on the Regulation on coordination and management between the leaders of of Danang Traffic Police Department, Lien Chieu District Police and Hai Van Tunnel Management and Operation Joint Stock Company in ensuring security and traffic safety, works protection and safety corridor of Hai Van tunnel, these units held a performance result evaluation in the second quarter of 2019.

According to the report of Hai Van Tunnel Management and Operation Joint Stock Company, the volume of traffic recently has increased, higher than the same period last year with 1,345,298 vehicles passing through the tunnel safely, an average of 11,118 vehicles / day, of which on April 29, 2019 has the highest vehicle traffic of 14,974 vehicles.

There are 822 violating vehicles were detected when moving through the tunnel. Of which, 238 vehicles run under slower than the prescribed speed, 519 vehicles stopped in the tunnel, 8 vehicles did not turn on the lights in the tunnel, 41 vehicles overtaken in the tunnel and 16 other violating vehicles. The operation center coordinated with Hoa Hiep Gate and Phu Loc Traffic Police Stations to handle 267 cases of violation vehicles.

Incident rescuing and firefighting are always carried out quickly and promptly to ensure smooth and safety traffic. There were 519 broken vehicles stopped in the tunnel, 1 vehicle burned inside the tunnel and 1 outside the tunnel, 7 accidents in the tunnel and 7 accidents on the entrance road outside the tunnel.

Also in the recent time, 14 accidents occurred in the tunnel and on the North - South entrance road. Including 1 serious accident on Hai Van bridge in Phu Loc district - Thua Thien Hue causing 02 deaths and 03 injured and vehicles damaged. Besides, there were 02 car fires occurred, the rescue force quickly approached and promptly handled so the vehicles were only slightly damaged and no one was injured.

Mr. Vo Ngoc Trung, Deputy General Director of Hai Van Tunnel Management and Operation Joint Stock Company highly appreciated the coordination between The Tunnel Management and Operation Unit and Danang Traffic Police Department and related agencies in ensuring traffic safety, rescuing, fire prevention and fighting, strengthening patrols and handling of violated vehicles when moving through the tunnel as well as mountain pass routes, especially vehicles overtaking on the south entrance road of Hai Van tunnel.
