Fire Prevention & Fighting and Rescue rehearsing at Cu Mong tunnel

On June 24, 2020, according to Fire Prevention & Fighting and Rescue (FPF&R) rehearsal plan approved by Fire Prevention & Fighting and Rescue Police Department of Binh Dinh Province, Cu Mong Operation Management factory organized the rehearsal on fire prevention and protection level 3B in Cu Mong tunnel. This is an annual activity to raise the awareness of FPF&R work for the factory’s staffs. This is an important activity to help everyone thoroughly grasp the skills, coordination and deployment processes of fire fighting, the usage of fire fighting equipment, the skills to rescue and escape in case of fire and explosion occurred in Cu Mong tunnel. Attending the rehearsal was leaders, functional agencies of Binh Dinh and Phu Yen provinces.

The hypothetical situation is at 9:30 am on June 24, 2020, a truck with control plate 77A-12345 driven by Bui Van A and 01 assistant moving in north-south direction at a speed of 60 km/h. When arrived at Km 3 + 150, the truck suddenly has an electrical short-circuit causing fire under the cabin. The fire quickly covers the entire cabin and about to spread to the trunk. The incident has caused traffic congestion, people were injured and trapped need fire fighting and rescue, the Tunnel operation & management factory quickly presented and regulated vehicles to go the other way. The operating center has implemented the fire prevention and rescue, within 30 minutes the fire was completely extinguished, the victims were taken to emergency. After that, the tunnel entrances opened again and the traffic returned to normal.

After the rehearsal, the leader of Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen Province together with the Steering Committee of the rehearsal had a meeting to learn from experience. At the meeting, representatives of Fire Prevention and Fighting Police highly appreciated the preparation and implementation of the rehearsal in Cu Mong tunnel, well implementing the 4-points motto: On-site force, on-site equipment, on-site logistics and on-site command.
