On December 28, 2022, Hai Van Tunnel Management & Operations Enterprise cooperated with the Fire and Rescue Police Department of Da Nang and relevant units to practice the Firefighting and Rescue Execution Plan level 3D at Hai Van road tunnel.

The hypothetical situation was that a truck was traveling in Hai Van 2 Tunnel to the distance Km5+220 from the South-to-North direction, then lost control and hit the tunnel wall, then the bus behind hit the back of it, causing a fire. In both vehicles, there were many people, including injured people and trapped.

Getting the news, the tunnel operations center quickly issued an order to close two tunnel exits, blocking/preventing vehicles from entering the tunnel. Other steps that followed the 3D Plan were also executed to ensure sufficient space for specialized vehicles to get through.

The Firefighting and Rescue force deployed an action plan which prioritized rescuing injured people. At the same time, they instructed people to move away from the fire area.

At the end of the training, the tunnel's operation was switched from training mode to normal operations. A meeting was also held for the lesson learned, for getting feedback from the Fire and Rescue Police Department, and for the final assessment of the training execution.

The firefighting and rescue training is one of the annual activities to raise awareness for all Enterprise employees and strengthen cooperation at work. In addition, the training is to advance professional capability in terms of firefighting and rescue to apply the motto "4 on the spot": "command on the spot", "forces on the spot", "vehicles on the spot", and "suppliers on the spot" to promptly handle and minimize damages once incidents occur, ensure safety for people and vehicles traveling through Hai Van road tunnel.
