On November 30, 2020, the delegation of Tien Giang province visited and worked at Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway project to prepare for the route connection plan at the end of December 2020.
Attending the working session were leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee, departments, former provincial leaders and revolutionary seniors ofTien Giang province, Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT JSC and contractors of Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway project.
The delegation went for field survey from An Thai Trung intersection, Cai Be district (the end of the expressway) to Than Cuu Nghia intersection, Chau Thanh district (the starting point, connecting with Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway).
At An Thai Trung intersection, Mr. Nguyen Tan Dong - General Director of Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company reported on the progress of project construction. Accordingly, at present, there are 34/36 construction and installation packages have been implementing, the remaining 2 packages are toll stations and ITS system will deploy according to the project progress. Total accumulated output up to now is 4,633/6,347 billion VND (73% of construction volume). Of which, the road part has completed the installation of the wick drains and superimposed loading to handle the soft ground on the main route (the remaining part on the connecting route), some bidding packages have unloaded to construct the K98 layer and road foundation, road surface; About the bridge part: 51/51 bridges are under construction, of which 39 bridges on the main route are expected to be completed before December 20, 2020.
Regarding the disbursement, the project has disbursed more than 7,246 billion VND. In which: Equity and investor's capital disbursed more than 3,053 billion VND, credit loan has disbursed more than 2,317 billion VND, State budget support capital has disbursed 1,776 billion VND.
According to the Project Contract signed between the Investor and the competent state agency, there is no contracted term requiring the temporary opening of the route before the 2021 Lunar New Year. However, in order to reduce congestion on National Road 1A and following the Prime Minister's direction, Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company is making efforts, striving to complete the basic items on the main route in December 2020, promptly serving the travel need of people during Lunar New Year 2021.
“Currently, on the expressway there are more than 1,500 workers and with more than 1,000 vehicles, machinery and equipment working 3-shifts/day, all striving for the route connection at the end of the year. The “opening” to serve vehicles during the upcoming Lunar New Year 2021 is not a compulsory term of the project contract, but the company will ensure the route connection by the end of 2020 as promised to the Prime Minister and the nationwide people, especially more than 21 million people in the West, right after taking over the project”, Mr. Nguyen Tan Dong said.
Mr. Tran Thanh Thao - Director of the Tien Giang Department of Health, shared: “I am a resident of Tien Giang province, at first I was quite confused and worried, but today, through the report and the trip through 51km of Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway from the end to the beginning of the route, I am very confident about the route connection schedule that the investor as well as Tien Giang province committed to the Government by the end of this year. To going on this expressway today, although it has not been completed and the movement is not smooth, I am very happy because in the near future, people in the Mekong Delta will have one more expressway, this is the dream of the people here for a very long time”.
The traffic jam obsession on National Road 1, section through Tien Giang province every Tet, will be overcome when Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway completed and share the “traffic burden” with National Road 1 by serving passenger cars under 16 seats and trucks under 2.5 tons. This is a voluntary offer of investor in order to share with people in the Mekong Delta so that they can go home for Tet holiday and come back to work faster and safer. During the time before and after Tet, the company will coordinate with the authorities of Tien Giang province and the Ministry of Transport to direct the traffic to Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway to avoid congestion “black spots” on National Road 1.
With a sense of responsibility “each delayed day of the project is one more day indebted to the people”, managers and workers of Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway project are committed to overcoming difficulties and determine to bring the project to the destination on time and ensuring quality, contributing to solving the problem of congestion, remove traffic bottleneck for the Mekong Delta.
