On July 20, 2021, Mr. Luu Xuan Thuy - Vice Chairman of the Board of Management of Deo Ca Group came to check the construction progress and encouraged the staff at Bao Bien tunnel project (Quang Ninh province) for working safely and ensure quality. The staff is also working hard to implement the last drills, ready to break through both tunnels this weekend.
The mountain tunnel on the shore of Ha Long Bay has a length of 235m, including 2 tunnels, each has 3 lanes and 13.7m wide, design speed is 60km/h, implemented by Deo Ca Group since December/ 2020. After 8 months of construction, the items have been basically completed. Currently, the project is implementing the last drills to break through the second tunnel, connecting Ha Long and Cam Pha city.
In the complicated development of Covid-19 epidemic, to well implement the “dual goal” of both ensuring construction progress and effective epidemic prevention and absolute safety for workers, Deo Ca Group has actively implemented the motto “3 on the spot”: construction on the spot - eat on the spot - stay on the spot, for workers directly working at the site. In addition, the Chairman of the BOM has assigned members of the BOM to stand in the North, Central, South regions, take turn to go to the construction sites, promptly encourage the employees who are working day and night, overcome difficulties to complete projects on schedule.

In order to ensure the progress of the work, the contractor has added and upgraded equipment, organized 4 teams working 3 shifts/day. Therefore, on July 11th, the right tunnel of the project was completed, the left tunnel reached 93% and is expected to be broken through on July 23.
Beside the main tunnel items, the tunnel foundation pits and temporary tunnels on Cam Pha city side and Ha Long city side have all been completed, the wall reinforcement item is being urgently deployed to ensure progress.
Bao Bien Tunnel is a key project of Quang Ninh province. The tunnel construction not only protects the landscape along the shores of Ha Long Bay, but also minimizes the risk of landslides. Especially, there is a tourism potential when Bao Bien tunnel is evaluated as an artistic architectural product located next to the world natural heritage.

Besides the recorded successes, Bao Bien tunnel project still has certain difficulties. Due to the influence of Covid-19 epidemic, the mobilization of machinery and personnel has been seriously affected. The high and low tide affects transportation. However, with the talent and ingenuity of the engineers and workers, the timely leadership of the Management Board, the progress of the project is still guaranteed. And Deo Ca Group is confident to complete this project on schedule by the end of this year.
