On July 10th, 2019, Public Security of Da Nang City cooperated with Deo Ca Investment Joint Stock Company to award units having excellent achievements in the joint operation to prevent and promptly handle the accident occurring at 14:00 on July 5th, 2019inside Hai Van road tunnel.

Leaders of Public Security of Da Nang City and Deo Ca Investment Joint Stock Company have awarded 4 units, including: Hai Van road tunnel Exploitation and Management Joint Stock Company, Traffic police station of Hoa Hiep Bac Ward – Lien Chieu District, Public Security of Lien Chieu District.
Earlier, at 14:00 on July 5th, 2019, at Hai Van road tunnel in the section of Thua Thien Hue province, a car driver bearing license plate 43A-337.36 crashed against another car on the same lane at the North opening, then sped into the tunnel, as the car continued to cross the opposite direction lane, it came into collision with another container truck.
Direct orders to handle the accident from OCC center
Upon discovering the situation, Hai Van tunnel Operation and Management unit ordered the safety – rescue and fire prevention departments to immediately approach and handle the scene of accident. When Police 113 approached the scene, the subject has jumped on the container truck and drove out of the tunnel. The Rescue Department along with Police 113 were in pursuit of the subject on the container truck. Upon exiting to the tunnel opening, the driver holed up in the truck and fought back against police force.
Until 15:20 of the same day, the police have managed to subdue the subject, towing the cars caught in the chain of accidents outside the tunnel, and traffic has resumed.

Recently, in certain locations of Hai Van tunnel (both in Da Nang and Thua Thien - Hue), there have been many serious traffic accidents. Whenever an accident occurs, the Operation and Management Company of Hai Van Road Exploitation and Management Joint Stock Company is always present at the scene to promptly handle and ensure the North - South traffic route.
Statistics from the Operation and Management Company of Hai Van tunnel showed that for over 12 years of operation and exploitation (from June 2005 to present), more than 20 million have passed through the tunnel.
