At 7:10 am on January 13, 2020, through observation of the camera system of the Hai Van Tunnel Management Center, it was discovered that at Km11 + 000 of the Nam Hai Van route, there was a local congestion. Immediately, the Center directed security forces nearby to inspect the actual incident area, timely sent rescue force to the scene.
At the scene of the accident, the tractor has the license plate 43C-066.60 traveling in the North-South direction, to Km 11 + 000 it lost brakes and run to the opposite lane, block the vehicles from moving out of the tunnel, causing congestion at both lanes. As soon as the incident occurred, the TMC notified the traffic police force and the local police according to the coordination regulations to handle and clear the road soon.
Being aware that although the incident did not cause damage to people and vehicles, but there was a risk of prolonged congestion in both lanes, the TMC has promplty arranged more manpower and rescue vehicles and equipments to free the accident site.
Until 7:45 am, the rescue force had ventilated the brakes and pull out broken vehicle to free the traffic in one lane to reduce congestion in the north - south direction. Until 8:45 am, towing all broken vehicles out of the site, completely clearing road, free the vehicles stucking in tunnels and on leading route.
Due to the increase of traffic flow on the occasion of Tet holiday, when the incident occurred, the number of vehicles got stuck very crowded, the TMC has made many efforts to promptly deploy the rescue force, vehicles, equipments and coordinated well with the functional forces, the traffic police in the area, so it quickly solved the problem and soon freed the road again.
The police of Lien Chieu District at Traffic Police Station at Hoa Hiep Bac Gate have highly appreciated the coordination and timely handling of incidents by the Hai Van tunnel management unit.
