The atmosphere of the Pig of Lunar New Year 2019 is approaching, on the construction site of Cu Mong tunnel at the end of the year, Mr. Vu Sy Chien - Deputy Director of the Executive Board of construction of Cu Mong tunnel and engineers together with workers are against the clock to bring the Cu Mong tunnel project to the finish before the Pig of Lunar New Year 2019, we see their determination, nothing may hinder them.

It is known that before coming to Deoca Home to devote and make many miracles, Mr. Chien used to work at CAVICO Company, participated in construction of Dai Ninh Hydropower Plant, BoKop Hydropower Plant, etc. Until 2014, when Ca Pass Tunnel Project was deployed, he was invited as consulting by Deoca Group’s leader. During his time working for the project, with his capacity and experience, he has built trust in the leadership. In September 2016, he was assigned to run the construction of Cu Mong tunnel.
Mr. Chien shared: “When I came to the Group together everyone to carry out the projects from Ca Pass, Cu Mong Tunnel and now called as Hai Van Tunnel 2, I am very proud of being trusted by the Group’s leaders to assign tasks of direct steering construction on the site. During the working period and join forces with a team of young and dynamic engineers who are eager for learning, I highly appreciate the usage of human resources by the Board of Directors when deploying and coordinating the work. Deoca Group not only creates jobs for thousands of employees and workers but also facilitates all of us to promote our capacity, experience, youth, and so on, join forces to make a sign of Deoca brand, this is a thing that the units where I have worked, they have not been able to do.”
Cu Mong Tunnel Project passing through both provinces of Phu Yen and Binh Dinh, most of the forces participating in the project implementation from supervision consultants, project management consultants, Project Management Units of the Investor, to construction contractors are all Vietnamese.
Briefings prior to the hour of task implementation
When deploying of Cu Mong tunnel in the early stage faced many difficulties in the terrain, complicated geology, weathered rock layers with significant fractures, when soil excavation was very easy to collapse and affect the speed of tunneling, and implicit risks of insecurity. However, under the drastic direction and different thinking of the “Captain” Ho Minh Hoang, Chairman of Deoca Group, along with the experience of persons like Mr. Chien and the skills and qualifications of young engineers, all “bottlenecks” are debated, criticized to reach the most optimal construction organization plan for the project. In the works construction, safety issue for workers must be absolute and always on top priority. Besides, it is safe for machinery and equipment, and the quality of construction and progress in accordance with the schedule must be ensured as scheduled. Despite of such difficulties, the collective leadership of the Group, the Site Management Board have always stood side by side and the final tunnel faces are “Closure” by the hands of Vietnamese workers with a difference when the two-tunnel are in closure of butt construction with a tolerance of less than 5cm. This proves that the “workers” of Deoca Group have completely been able to master the modern machines, capable of undertaking the international works. After exploding the last landmine to open Cu Mong tunnel, the emotions broke up, everyone on the construction site hugged each other happily and proudly.
“During the process of contacting and working with my colleagues under the 7X - 8X generations, they are very young, but their capacities and intelligences are not young, being an “elder” generation myself, I have also to admire them. Living and working with them, I feel more energetic like younger in my twenties. On the days nearer Tet, we are more determined that this Tet, people may pass through Cu Mong tunnel safely to come back for Tet celebration with their families and relatives. As for us, the Deoca’s men, always take the joy, happiness and safety from people as our joy and pride for ourselves. I myself, in the near future, the Group will have new projects wherever they are, I am always ready to come and share joys and sorrows with our colleagues in trying to complete the assigned tasks. I always want to contribute to the Group and society and also to show the bravery of the old soldier on the front of transport infrastructure construction in the country,” Mr. Chien said.

In a space in a tunnel face only about 70m2 in area, with his experience, he had organized the construction of works from drilling, blasting, excavating, loading, ventilating, reinforcing anchors, finishing concrete, etc, all of the processes are taken place in systematic manner and not overlap.
Wishing he always healthy and always filled with enthusiasm, working with young staff and contributing his efforts to Deoca Group more and more developing, creating more works with bold mark such as: Ca pass tunnel, Cu Mong tunnel, Hai Van tunnel, and so on, mitigating the dangerous roads, replacing them with modern traffic tunnel works so that road users are safer.
