In the early days of 2021, the Hai Van 2 tunnel expansion project built by Deo Ca Group was completed and put into operation, one-way traffic in each tunnel has helped people shorten travel time, create a sense of peace of mind and reduce the risk of incidents...
However, when traveling through tunnel 1, it catches the eye of road users that the tunnel wall has become discolored over time. After more than 15 years of being put into operation and exploitation, although it is regularly maintained, in general, the tunnel's shell is like an old, black shirt that exudes an austere old look.
With the message: "Deo Ca Group always strives for a safe life for people and the country of Vietnam", the goal is to create works of high quality, serve the people, and must ensure aesthetics to create a beautiful face for the legendary roads, where there are footprints of the people of Deo Ca. Realizing the contrast between the two tunnels, Hai Van 1 tunnel has been changed to a "new clothes" to create a harmony for both tunnels.
Mr. Vo Ngoc Trung, Deputy General Director of HHV said: "The problem is to build in conditions that still allow vehicles to circulate and still have to fully perform periodic cleaning and maintenance... In such construction conditions, safety must be a top priority, must ensure absolute safety for vehicles participating in traffic, ensure operating parameters such as visibility, CO concentration, wind speed, light ...".
After studying the actual field as well as the traffic situation, building construction methods, making estimates... submit them to all levels for approval. On July 11, 2021, the bidding package to repair and complete the surface of tunnel 1 was started.
The contractor has processed 151 cracks, removed old paint and putty together with new paint on an area of 35,786.31 m2, tiled construction with a total area of 5,665.16 m2. The number of direct construction workers daily was nearly 50 people, the fast construction helped to reduce the pressure on the management unit. The implementation of construction work was synchronized at all stages, from materials, vehicles, labor and traffic assurance groups. Everyone was aware that it is necessary to accelerate the progress and ensure the quality to "change clothes" for the Hai Van 1 tunnel as soon as possible.
Overcoming many difficulties and pressures in construction conditions, especially along with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic raging in Da Nang area, had a significant impact on the construction progress. By December 31, 2021, the items of the bidding package have been completed. With a completely new look, Hai Van 1 tunnel was put on a new shirt that looks bright, shimmering and no longer has cracks like the wrinkles of time. Hai Van 1 tunnel now looks younger and deserves the title of the most modern road tunnel in Vietnam.
A representative of the Hai Van Tunnel Management and Operation Enterprise said: “During the construction process, the Tunnel Operations Management Unit and construction departments worked together to ensure absolute safety, not allowing a single accident to happen. The operation management unit has also prepared plans to promptly handle any incidents.”
Entering the last days of the lunar year, when busy buses bring people far from home to their hometown to celebrate Tet, Hai Van tunnel after being changed into new clothes also becomes more sparkling and beautifies the roads of Vietnam.
