On June 11, 2020, the delegation of Ministry of Transport (MOT) led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Nhat came to visit and check the construction progress of Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway Project.
According to the report of the Executive Board of Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company, up to now, they have implemented 27/36 construction and installation packages on the main route. The road component has been installed wick drains since February 2020 and the item of superimposed loading and handling weak ground has completed on 10/19 packages. About the bridge items, 6097/7716 piles of all kinds have been constructed, 161/283 abutments, 782/1837 beams and 41/216 bridge spans have been constructed. Currently, the project has reached nearly 50% of the whole project volume.
During the past time, the bad impact of the covid-19 epidemic and the embankment to prevent saltwater by the authorities made it difficult to transport materials, besides, the sources of raw materials (sand, macadam) is scarce, causing many difficulties in construction. However, the Project Management Board and contractors have attempted to find solutions to overcome the difficulties, ensuring the goal of road connection by the end of 2020 and complete the project to put into use in 2021. “The target of route connecting by the end of 2020 will be unchanged”, Mr. Ho Minh Hoang - Chairman of Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company said.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Nhat highly appreciated the management capacity of Deo Ca Group and the contractors, only after more than 1 year of implementation has reached 50% of the total project volume. In addition, the Deputy Minister said that he would submit to Ministry's leaders to consider and settle some technical proposals of the project such as the location of the toll station, connecting to Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong and My Thuan - Can Tho expressway in the future ...

About My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway project, Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company has proposed solution to ensure the connection of the expressway from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho in 2021, completed in 2022 to the Prime Minister. Accordingly, adjusting and expanding the scale of Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway BOT project which responsible by People's Committee of Tien Giang Province (PPC) and adding My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway to the project. In which, the capital structure of My Thuan - Can Tho section includes: VND 2,400 billion of State budget capital (about 50%), the rest will be mobilized by Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company and other sources.
Besides, this plan will reduce about VND 2,400 billion of state budget allocated for the Project compared to the form of public investment and be able to make use of the remaining reserve capital of Trung Luong - My Thuan Project to implement ground clearance immediately. Moreover, this plan also shortens the payback toll collecting time of the whole project from 14 years and 8 months down to 12 years and 6 months (2 years and 2 months shorter). This proposal also received high consensus from the provinces of Dong Thap, Vinh Long and Can Tho.
“With the result achieved after one year being the competent state agency of Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway project, Tien Giang province is very happy to be trusted and supported by the provinces of Vinh Long, Dong Thap and Can Tho, agreeing to expand the scale of Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway Project with Tien Giang PPC as Competent State Agency and add My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway to the project. If Prime Minister approves and assigns the project to Tien Giang province, we will follow Prime Minister's direction”, Mr. Tran Van Dung - Vice Chairman of Tien Giang PPC said.
Ho Chi Minh city- Can Tho expressway is the backbone traffic route of the whole Mekong Delta region, the premise to deploy the next expressway sections, connecting neighboring provinces with the economic center Ho Chi Minh city.
