After 15 hours of coordinating with functional forces, Hai Van Tunnel Management & Operation Enterprise successfully rescued a super-long and super-heavy container in trouble while traveling on Hai Van pass.
Mr. Vo Ngoc Trung - Director of the Enterprise, a unit of Deo Ca Transport Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company, said: "We have been at the scene since the morning of May 13. We appointed six employees in the morning, six employees in the afternoon, four further employees in the evening one trailer and one pickup truck having priority lights to regulate traffic. By 1.30 A.M this morning, the container in incident was towed"
The super-long and super-heavy container met incident on the pass
Previously, on the evening of May 12, 2021, at Km 904+100 of Hai Van pass road, a container with plate 77C-074.01, about 100 tons heavy, 5m high, transfered a transformer in South – North direction. Its crankshaft, which is the part that transmits power from the transmission to the differential, was broken causing one direction of the pass was jammed.

At 6.30 P.M on the same day, another trailer came to rescue, but it slipped to the left road side causing the complete traffic jam. The Enterprise coordinated with the Road Administration Department II, III and traffic police forces to regulate traffic and guide vehicles to travelling through Hai Van Tunnel until the incident is resolved.

According to regulations, the super-long and super-heavy container is not allowed to travel through Hai Van Tunnel. Currently, most vehicles traveling the pass are short-distance service vehicles, tourist vehicles, overloaded or oversized vehicles, trucks transfering livestock or chemicals because the fact that they are not allowed to go through the Tunnel. In addition to the key function of operating Hai Van Tunnel, the Enterprise always timely handles traffic problems on the pass.

Since the beginning of 2021 when the Hai Van 2 tunnel started to be operated, the average time to go through the Tunnel has been only 6 minutes instead of 15 minutes when there was only one tunnel branch and 45 minutes if going through the pass. Besides, the safe of people and vehicles traveling through the Tunnel has ensured.
Since the last April 30 & May 1 holiday, the average number of vehicles going through Hai Van Tunnel is about 7.000 vehicles per day.
