Bac Giang - Lang Son Expressway Management and Operation Enterprise (BGLS M&O) cooperated with appropriate authorities to require the thieves to return the stolen properties in kind or in cash according to the state regulations.
On July 14, 2021, the People's Tribunal of Huu Lung district (Lang Son province) heard the first-instance of a criminal case against defendants Mr. Bui Xuan Khuong and Mr. Nguyen Duc Canh on charges of the stealing and the damaging intentionally of properties of BGLS M&O.
Through patrolling along the Express, on January 24, 2021, the Enterprise discovered the property theft, including pre-fabricated steel alloy sheets at the separators between the section from Km58+000 to Km103+000 belonging to Huu Lung and Lang Giang district (Bac Giang province). After discovering, the Enterprise quickly reported to the Police Department of Huu Lung and Lang Giang in order to investigate and clarify the case.
At 2.00 A.M on February 5, 2021, at the National Road 37 toll station, the toll station staff discovered a truck with plate 30H-6014 carrying some steel alloy sheets similar to the ones that were stolen. When asked to stop for clarification, the driver sped up causing the truck to collide with the station's barrier. After the incident happened, header of the station reported the to authorities. At 11 A.M on the same day, the police agency took the suspects into the custody.
The theft of the sheets, causing the deep holes uncovered, is unsafety for road users.
Through the information extraction, the suspects admitted that they took advantage of the dark night and used the truck with plate 30H-6014 to steal the steel alloy sheets on the Expressway. Particularly, they stole 19 sheets on January 24 and did the same with 8 other sheets on February 4.
At the trial, the Trial Panel sentenced defendants Mr. Bui Xuan Khuong to 42 months in prison, defendant Mr. Nguyen Duc Canh to 33 months in prison. In addition, the defendants have to compensate 51.090.000 VND for the crimes of stealing and the intentionally damaging of BGLS M&O ‘s property.
