Hypothetical situation was that,at 9.30 AM on December 23, 2020, a 3,5-ton truck was traveling in Cu Mong Tunnel in the North-to-South direction. There were one driver and one assistant in the truck at that time. When the truck was traveling at a speed of 50km/h to the distance of Km3+520, its electrical system suddenly shorted, causing a fire and explosion under the cabin. The fire quickly escalated to the whole cabin and risked spreading to the bodyshell.

The incident caused two people injured and immobile, also caused a long-lasting traffic jam that requires rescue as well asvehicles redirection to alternative routesfrom appropriate force.

Getting the news, the tunnel operations center quickly issued an order to close 2 tunnel exits, preventing vehicles from entering the Tunnel. Other steps that followed 3A Plan were also executed to ensure sufficient space for specialized vehicles getting through. The Firefighting and Rescue force deployed action plan which prioritized rescue injured people, at the same time they executed fire fighting and relocateddamaged vehicles to a safe place.

At the end of the training, the Tunnel’s operation was switched from the training mode to the normal operations.A meeting was also hold for lesson learnt, for getting feedback from the Firefighting and Rescue PoliceDepartment and for final assessment about the training execution.
