That is the statement of Mr. Ho Minh Hoang, Chairman of Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company with Thanh Nien Newspaper on the construction site on September 16.

More than 35% of the entire length of Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway project has been paved asphalt.

In particular, according to Mr. Hoang, the decision to allow cars with under 16 seats circulate in 10 days (December 25 to the 6th of Tan Suu Lunar New Year 2021) on Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway comes from the desire of sharing difficulties with Western people in the situation of traffic jams on National Road 1 (Tien Giang province section). This decision is not a contractual obligation with the competent state agency.

“We have overcome the difficult times due to the salt drought and Covid-19, but are still facing another challenge, that is the Ministry of Transport has not decided on the location of the toll booth so that we can design and construct on schedule to put the expressway into operation. This problem greatly affects the construction of many other bidding packages. Regarding the construction progress, we affirm that we are following the roadmap for the route connection by the end of 2020 and put into use in 2021 as committed with the Prime Minister ”, Mr. Ho Minh Hoang said.

According to Mr. Hoang, the determination of the location of the toll booth on this route is governed by the plan of collecting toll again (if any) of Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway as well as some other disagreement issues at My Thuan - Can Tho expressway project. “I also make it clear that if cannot set up toll booths, investors cannot put the project into operation. The difficulties that we face are all in the Ministry of Transportation”, said Mr. Hoang.

According to Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT project management board, currently the total completed construction volume is over 65%. Currently, 31/36 construction and installation packages are implemented, the remaining 5 packages (lighting, toll booths, ITS ...) will be implemented according to the project schedule.

Talking to Thanh Nien Newspaper, a leader of Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee said that the frustration of the investor of Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT project about the undetermined location of the toll booth so far is understandable but the competent state agency cannot make decision for this issue either. The reason is that the expressway section Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong and My Thuan - Can Tho project are under the management of the Ministry of Transport.
