On the afternoon of April 22, Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company held the online conference on “Progress, quality, and route connecting plan of Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway Project”.
According to Nguyen Quang Vinh, Deputy General Director of Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company, currently Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway project is simultaneously implemented 24/24 packages on the main route, executing 3 shifts/day, no holidays. Although affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, about 1,400 managers and workers still work incessantly. Ensuring protective measures to prevent Covid-19 epidemic, minimize external contact during the construction process. There by, the wick drain installation to handle weak ground of main routes and branch has been completed; Currently, the superimposed load is being implemented in parallel with construction of the bridges. Up to now, the entire Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway has reached over 40% of workload (over 30% increase compared to March 2019).

Due to complicated geological conditions in the Mekong Delta, the project must carefully calculate the foundation solution to ensure optimal work quality. Equity and credit capital have been disbursed, basically meet the project schedule. However, the state budget capital is still entangled. Specifically, the project has been allocated VND 2,186 billion of budget and the People's Committee of Tien Giang province has disbursed VND 1,776 billion, the remaining VND 410 billion has not been disbursed although the province has repeatedly proposed functional ministries, but so far still slow.
Accelerate the construction
Recently there are information on the quality of 310m³ of graded gathered at the package XL-10. Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company said that: 310m³ of crushed stones gathering at the XL-10 package under the contract between the contractor and Khanh Cuong Company (material supplier) is determined by the investor and relevant agencies to take samples for testing quality assurance according to the project's technical standards.
According to Assoc. Prof. Tran Chung, Former Director of the State Department of Construction Quality Inspection (Ministry of Construction): The superimposed layers can be normal soil, normal sand or any material, provided that the loading is in the order of layers, batches and during loading process we must continuously monitoring the settlement of the entire soft ground. We have to monitor a series of indicators such as tightness, pore pressure, water, subsidence rate, ... to assess whether the ground is really consolidated or not. For loading materials, there is no mandatory material regulation, as long as the materials is created an appropriate pressure so that water can escape”.

Mr. Tran Van Bon, Director of Tien Giang Department of Transport emphasized: “In the past time, Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company has focused on directing contractors to accelerate the project. Regarding the quality of macadam materials, the provincial Department of Transport has worked with the Project Management Unit and relevant units to check the materials put into the construction. This material is used for superimposed loading. Up to now, the material used for loading has not affected the quality of the construction”.
In order to enhance control of the origin and quality of materials provided for the project, Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company said that it will adjust tighter control processes such as control materials at mines and origin, quality; control materials before gathering from barge to construction site; control materials before putting them into use and during construction. In addition, the investor is also equipped with 50 surveillance cameras throughout the project route and establishes a work team for daily inspectiing, monitoring and reporting. These next days will continue to install cameras at asphalt concrete mixing stations.
With the sense of responsibility “each day late of the project is one more day indebted to the people”, cadles and workers of Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway project are committed to overcoming difficulties and determine to bring the project to the destination on time, partly solving the problem of congestion, remove traffic bottlenack for the Mekong Delta. Trying to connect Trung Luong - My Thuan route at the end of 2020 and officially put into operation in 2021, with the quality of the works in accordance with the prescribed standards.
