Bac Giang - Lang Son BOT Company has just sent a request document to Lang Son Provincial People Committee, the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Transport, proposing an experimental operation plan for Bac Giang - Lang Son expressway, allowing vehicles to travel free from December 5 to December 25.

The above proposal was made after nearly 2 months of technical open. This company said that based on the acceptance results of the State Acceptance Council and consider the outstanding problems, difficulties and obstacles affecting the financial plan of the project, the investor will send report proposing the competent State agency agree on solutions before putting into official exploitation.

People have 2 options: go on National Road 1 or on the expressway. Bac Giang - Lang Son BOT Company said that they were well prepared and ready to serve people on the route, ensuring the best safety and convenience for people when the proposal be approved by State agencies.

Bac Giang - Lang Son expressway runs parallel to the National Road 1. People can choose to go on new expressways or National Road 1

Start constructing in July 2015, Bac Giang - Lang Son BOT project has two components: Constructing 64km of expressways from Km45 + 100 to Km108 + 500 and enhancing 105km road surface of National Road 1 from Km1 + 800 to Km106 + 500. The total investment of the whole project is over 12,000 billion VND, designed speed is 100 km/h.

In the first phase, the project was headed by “gambling boss” Nguyen Van Duong, UDIC Investment Joint Stock Company as a joint venture of investors and project enterprises. However, due to weak investor capacity, unable to arrange credit capital, the project was at a standstill. In May 2017, the Ministry of Transport decided to “get rid of” the old investor and “change blood” for the project.

On June 1, 2017, the project was officially restarted, marked by the event VietinBank signed a contract to sponsor credit capital for the project with a value of more than VND 10,000 billion. In May 2018, at the Prime Minister's direction, the Ministry of Transport transferred the role of the competent State agency at the project to Lang Son People's Committee.

After 2 years of construction, Bac Giang - Lang Son Expressway was technically opened by the end of last September. Together with the component of enhancing the surface of National Road 1 which has been exploited, the travel time of 170 km from Hanoi to Lang Son is reduced to only 2 hours.

Previously, the State Acceptance Council issued notice No.240/TTHĐNTNN-CTTĐ dated November 15, 2019 on the inspect results of the project. On November 20, Bac Giang - Lang Son BOT Joint Stock Company said they were implemented and reported to the Council in Document No.1130/CV-BOTBGLS on November 20, 2019 to ensure acceptance conditions and put the road into operation as planned.
