Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway project is expected to be connected by the end of 2020 and the operation of the road in 2021 will remove the infrastructure “bottlenecks”, promote socio-economic efficiency as expectation of people in the Mekong River Delta (Mekong Delta), including Tien Giang province.
Completed almost 70% of the progress
Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway project has a total length of 51.1km (Total investment: 12,668 billion VND), the beginning is at Than Cuu Nghia intersection (connecting with Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway), the endpoint intersects with National Road 30 at An Thai Trung intersection (Cai Be district, Tien Giang). First started in 2009, after 10 years of implementation, the project has reached only 10% of the volume. From March 2019 when Deo Ca Group has been invited by investors to participate in the project management and administration till the end of October 2020, after nearly 2 years of restarting, the progress reached 68%, the connection plan by the end of 2020 is guaranteed.
Currently, there are 31/36 construction and installation packages have been implemented, the 5 remaining packages (lighting, toll booth, ITS, ..) will be implemented according to the project progress. The implemented items mainly includes: Site preparation, frontage roads, temporary bridges, grubbing, soft ground reinforcement, box culverts, pile culverts, bored piles, concrete abutments bridge piers, beam casting, girder installation, bridge deck slab, balustrades, etc. Besides, some sections have completed the unloading to deploy the next construction stages.
Not only guaranteeing the progress, the Project enterprise and contractors also ensure the construction quality of the project as the requirement of the approved design. In order to tighten up the control of the source and quality of materials supplied to the Project, Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company has adjusted a stricter control process such as check the origin and quality right at the mine; checking before loading from the barge onto the site; checking before put into use and during construction. In addition, the investor also equips 50 surveillance cameras on the entire project route and arranges a working team to inspect, supervise and report daily by images. In the coming time, cameras continue to be installed at the asphalt concrete batching plants.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tan Dong, General Director of Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company (project enterprise), the impact of Covid-19 epidemic and the construction of saline prevention dams have caused difficulties in transporting materials and prefabricated components. In addition, the scarcity of sand and rock due to drought and saltwater intrusion is another obstacle for the construction. To achieve the above results, the related parties have made the best efforts and determination to fulfill the task. Many construction units work 3 shifts/day, on all day-off and even on holidays.
Striving to keep the promise with people in the Mekong Delta
Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway Project is a section of Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway. This route has a particularly important role in connecting the socio-economic center of Mekong Delta region with Ho Chi Minh City, the southern key economic region in general and Tien Giang province in particular; contributing to creating a new resilience, removing traffic congestion for the Southwestern region.
Always present at the site, Mr. Nguyen Tan Dong said: “Currently there are more than 1,500 workers as well as many machines and equipment working on the construction site. The company organized the night shift to compensate for the rainy days, as well as increased manpower, machinery and equipment to construct simultaneously. From company leaders to engineers and workers, all are determined to strive for the route connection target by the end of 2020”.
The traffic jam obsession every Tet on National Road 1 section through Tien Giang province will be overcome, Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway will share the “traffic burden” with National Road 1 by allowing cars with less than 16 seats, under 2.5 tons to circulate for free. This is a voluntary offer of investor in order to share with people in the Mekong Delta so that they can go home for Tet holiday and come back to work faster and safer.
“For more than 12 years, people in the Mekong Delta keep hoping and waiting for this expressway in order not to suffer from traffic jams on National Road 1. More than ever, that belief must be repaid by the determination to bring the project to the finish line on schedule”, Mr. Nguyen Tan Dong affirmed.
