Started on 25th September 2015, after 2 and a half years of construction, the road tunnel through Cu Mong pass is going into the sprint phase to complete as expected in December 2018. To ensure its progress, hundreds of staffs, engineers and workers are working with great efforts, even in holidays. Only being at the site these days that one can feel the working spirit here.
In the West tunnel of Cu Mong tunnel, although it is in the holidays, dozens of engineers, workers and many machines and equipment still hastily construct the tunnel cover. Among the people who participate in the construction at this moment, some people are having their first holiday on site, while many others have had several holidays with this construction. Nevertheless, on the face of all staffs, engineers and workers involving in the construction of the road tunnel through Cu Mong pass there is always expression of high determination to ensure the progress of the project.
At two tunnel gates, the construction units are concentrating on constructing the leading roads, public roads, rescue center, installing the electricity supply system for construction of the tunnel… To this time it is estimated that the Cu Mong tunnel projects has been constructed with a volume of more than 1,500 billion.
The importance at the moment, besides speeding up the construction to keep up with the progress, is to ensure the quality as well as safety and cleanliness of the work. At the same time, together with the timely and proper implementation of policies and condition for the workers, entertainment activities during the holidays are also organized, creating motivation for the workers to ensure comfortable and responsible working attitude.
The Cu Mong tunnel project has a total length of more than 6.6km, of which the tunnel length is 2.6km. On the route there are also 2 bridges with a total length of 36m. The work consists of 2 tunnels with designed speed of 80km/h. The total investment for the project is more than 3,900 billion. The construction of Cu Mong tunnel was started on 25th September 2015 and is expected to complete in December 2018. After completion, Cu Mong tunnel will play a connecting role, helps to reduce traffic accidents on Cu Mong pass, expand trade and create more practical regional links, promoting social and economic development in the Southern Central area.
