On July 11, the right branch of the mountain – crossing tunnel in Ha Long - Cam Pha completed the technical tunneling, thereby speeding up the construction of the largest tunnel through the mountains in Quang Ninh.

The tunnel item has been deployed since March 2021. However, the contractors have to face many difficulties, leading to the adjustment of the construction plan in accordance with the actual conditions to ensure the quality of the supporting structure system.

The tunnel ceiling item is constructed by the method of digging the basement ceiling, pouring concrete of the tunnel shell, connecting to the main tunnel by waterproof and deformable joints. At the same time, this item needs to be supplemented, upgraded equipment and human resources to simultaneously build both sides of the tunnel to ensure the progress of the work.

After 4 months, on July 11, the right tunnel branch was officially opened.

The left branch of the tunnel is expected to be opened at the end of July 2021. According to the plan, the wall and inverted arch are going to be completed in August 2021 and the concrete tunnel cover will be completed in May 2022, all of the work will be officially accepted and put into use in August 2022 to synchronize with Ha Long - Cam Pha coastal road.

This is the largest moutain – crossing tunnel in Quang Ninh at present and is one of the mountain - crossing tunnels with the largest roadbed in Vietnam at the same time.

Instead of cutting mountains, the investment in the tunnel through the mountain minimizes negative impacts on the environment, preserves the landscape on the shores of Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay, protects the environment of the limestone mountain system and limits the risk of rock landslide.
