In the evening of July 4th, at Deoca road tunnel project, Member of Political Bureau, Permanent Secretariat Committee Tran Quoc Vuong and Party Secretary of Phu Yen Province Huynh Tan Viet and the mission visited, worked with Deoca road tunnel operation.
The road tunnel passes through Deo Ca locating between Phu Yen Province and Khanh Hoa Province, project starting point is at Km1353+150, Highway 1, in Phu Yen Province area, project ending point is at Km1374+525, Highway 1, in Khanh Hoa Province area, total project length is 13.19 km. Deoca tunnel length is 4,125 m, Co Ma tunnel length is 500 m.
Two main categories of the project were Deoca tunnel and Co Ma tunnel with two parallel tunnel passages, each tunnel had two operational vehicle lines with the same direction to ensure operational velocity as 80 km/h.
Putting tunnel into operation would shorten the time passing through Deo Ca from 60 minutes to 10 minutes. When passing through Deo Ca, peoples may select to pass through tunnel (fee required) or pass through old tunnel (free).
Deoca road tunnel project is 1 of 5 exemplary constructions of the country, was selected to affix 60-year of Vietnam construction tradition sign. This was a recognition for a project with many following advantages such as: used domestic capital only, invested – implemented by strength and knowledge of Vietnamese completely. Deoca tunnel construction would facilitate transportation, leverage for economic development in Middle of Vietnam provinces, particularly Phu Yen Province and Khanh Hoa Province.

Welcoming Central mission includes Assoc. Prof. Tran Chung, Permanent Advisory Board of the Company and Executive Board on scope and excel of Deoca road tunnel in comparison with the previous Hai Van tunnel, Vietnamese technology and skills had currently sufficient to implement complicated construction, requiring high technology, which could only be implemented by foreign contractor.
Party secretary Tran Quoc Vuong highly appreciated efforts of officer, staff and workers of Deoca Company, who had upheld domestic power by Vietnamese qualification and knowledge to finish a modern construction, reducing traffic accidents, in particular avoiding traffic jams on dangerous mountain pass in the upcoming rain season.
