According to information from the Board of Management (BOM) of the Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway Project, after only two days of traffic, the expressway received 58,992 turns, and vehicles mainly traveled in the direction from Ho Chi Minh City to the West. Specifically, from 7.30 A.M. on April 30 until 6 A.M. on May 1, Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway welcomed 47,194 vehicles. From 6 A.M. on May 1 to 6 A.M. on May 2, the expressway 11,798 vehicles.

The BOM also said that in the first two days, the BOM only received 36 calls to the hotline asking for support (some calls were to see if the hotline was working or not), and the whole expressway had 12 traffic incidents, including three vehicles ran out of petrol (the operator supported buying petrol); 6 vehicles burst tires, stalled; 2 accidents (a motorcycle collided with a 4-seater car parked on the roadside); 1 other incident (pulled out by the 118TG traffic rescue unit). Thus, putting Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway into operation on April 30 and May 1 has dramatically contributed to reducing the load on National Highway 1. Specifically, National Highway 1 could be "easier to breathe" instead of receiving an enormous number of people to the West to go to hometown, tourism, or work.
Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway would continue to operate free of charge in both directions for 60 days (from April 30, 2022), with a minimum speed of 60km/h and a maximum speed of 80km/h. Vehicles not allowed to travel on the expressway include motorcycles with a design speed of less than 70 km/h, tractors, mopeds, rudimentary cars, self-propelled construction motorcycles, and crawler vehicles (except for vehicles on the duty of the expressway maintenance, inspection, and repair).

Mr. Nguyen Tan Dong, General Director of Trung Luong - My Thuan BOT Company, said that allowing vehicles to travel without toll collection for 60 days was to test operation before officially putting toll collection for the project. At the same time, this was also a solution to reduce traffic congestion on National Highway 1, when the number of people from Ho Chi Minh City to the West is very crowded. "Instead of only having one option to travel on the National Highway 1, people now have another option, the Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway. Moreover, theoretically, Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway also helps people in the Southwest region to shorten the travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to My Thuan from 3 hours down to more than 1 hour ", Mr. Nguyen Tan Dong said.
