Temple of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc is one of the important works of the province in the education of traditional patriotism and spirit of fighting against foreign invaders. After 4 months of efforts to ensure schedule, the temple is expected to be completed in October 2020.

National hero Nguyen Trung Truc is famous for his martial art talent, integrity, chivalry, patriotism, being the leader of the anti-French insurrection movement in the South, directly commanded many fierce battles, including two resounding victories: Burning and sinking L'Espérance ship (Hope) on Nhut Tao estuary in 1861 and destroying the French enemy's headquarters stronghold in Rach Gia province in 1868. When he was captured, the French colonialists tried to persuade, seduce, and call for his surrender but failed. Finally, they executed him on October 27, 1868. On the scaffold, Nguyen Trung Truc emphatically stated: “Whenever the Western invaders uproot all the grass of Viet ground, then no more Viet people fight against them”, saving his reputation with this immortal saying. The heroic will to fight and indomitable sacrifice of Hero Nguyen Trung Truc is a shining example of patriotism and fighting against foreign invaders.

The temple of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc is located at Doc Sao, Vinh Hoi village, Cat Hai commune (Phu Cat district). The idea of building the Temple of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc was set by the leaders of province many years ago. Considering this is an important work of the province in educating traditional patriotism and fighting against foreign invaders, everything is prepared very carefully and in detail. During the construction preparation process, the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee pay much attention in directing from the stages of site selection survey, design approval, until commencement (May 9, 2020), all of which are regularly updated.

On the morning of September 14, Director of the Department of Culture and Information, Ta Xuan Chanh led the delegation to inspect the construction of the temple. In the area of 12,000m2, many items are designed according to traditional architecture such as The main temple, Triple gate, Management house, Worship offering house, Scenic house, Stone steles house, ritual yard... are harmoniously connected, creating the grandeur and solemnity for the Temple. The construction is more valuable when located at a “base on mountain and toward water” position, the back and sides are surrounded by large rock mountains, the front is a beautiful beach.

Mr. Le Xuan Huy, Commander of the temple construction project, said: “We endeavor to ensure the construction progress and technical and artistic requirements of the project. At the construction site, there are always 50-70 workers who are employees of Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company and local workers. Moreover, there are some good craftsmen in Hue who undertake the implementation of decorative patterns.

Mr. Ta Xuan Chanh said: The construction of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc Temple is registered by the Department of Culture and Information with the province as work to celebrate the twentieth Party Congress of Binh Dinh Province (term 2020-2025). It’s expected to hand over the construction and installation works to the investor on September 20. “In order to pay homage to the National Hero, the Provincial People's Committee has directed to upgrade the quality and the solemnity of the main temple's interior compared to the original plan. Currently, the interior design has been assigned to an experienced company is Cultural Heritage Conservation One Member LLC (Hanoi). We will continue our efforts to inaugurate the temple on schedule in early October 2020, before the twentieth Party Congress of Binh Dinh province”.
