That’s what Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang talked about DEOCA Group during a field trip to the Hai Van tunnel on March 4, 2024.

Hai Van Tunnel comprises two tunnels: Hai Van 1 (6,280m long, completed in June 2005 with Japanese ODA) and Hai Van 2 (6,292m long, completed from December 2016 to September 2020 through public-private partnership with DEOCA Group as the investor).

BMr. Le Quynh Mai, Vice Chairman of DEOCA Group's Board of Directors, reported that DEOCA Traffic Infrastructure Investment JSC (HHV) has managed Hai Van Tunnel since June 2005 with 189 staff working round the clock to ensure smooth operations and handle traffic incidents promptly to the Ministry of Transport delegation.

“From June 2005 until now, Hai Van Tunnel Management Enterprise has ensured safety for 43.6 million vehicles, rescuing nearly 400 accidents Through the monitoring system, 68,119 cases of traffic violations were detected.

Since the opening of Hai Van 2 tunnel, traffic accidents have decreased, congestion has eased, speeds have increased to 63km/h, travel time reduced by 40% to over 6 minutes, and improvements in visibility and air quality”, Mr. Le Quynh Mai said.

HHV also works closely with local authorities to ensure security, order, and safety for travelers in the tunnel and on Hai Van Pass.

Minister Nguyen Van Thang expects DEOCA Group to research, coordinate with road management agencies to upgrade control systems and databases for traffic safety and project structure protection.

Many upcoming projects, especially those on the North-South Expressway, will increase significantly. Private enterprises should handle tasks suited for them, such as environmental management and selecting experienced contractors through competitive bidding”, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang emphasized.

Prioritize the development of human resources

During the business trip, the Ministry of Transport delegation visited the DEOCA Practical Training Center, which trains personnel for the system with tailored programs and activities for skill enhancement and adaptability.

At the Center, DEOCA Group representatives briefed the Minister of Transport on the Group's innovative personnel training and development initiatives for the local transport industry.

Accordingly, DEOCA Group aims to train employees on corporate culture, professional knowledge, soft skills, administrative capacity, and practical problem-solving in complex business scenarios.

DEOCA has recently partnered with local training units to blend theory with practice. In 2023, they collaborated with Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport to establish DEOCA Research and Training Institute, focusing on quality human resources and research for railway development.
