On December 3, 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led a government delegation to inspect the progress of several construction packages for Long Thanh International Airport project. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspects the progress of the implementation of construction Package 6.12.

The 6.12 package, executed by the consortium led by DEOCA Group, has a contract value of over VND 2.388 billion. This is a key infrastructure project connecting Long Thanh International Airport with National Highway 51 and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway. Specifically, Runway 1 (T1) is 4.3 km long, designed with 6 lanes and a design speed of 80 km/h, while Runway 2 (T2) stretches 3.5 km, designed with 4 lanes and a design speed of 100 km/h.

Currently, the contractor has mobilized nearly 200 machines and equipment, along with 800 personnel, deploying 20 construction teams. After more than a year of construction, the completed work has reached 60.5% of the total contract volume.

The two roads, T1 and T2, connecting Long Thanh International Airport with National Highway 51 and the expressway, are steadily taking shape.

According to the plan, the bridge at the intersection of National Highway 51 and the main bridge at Intersection No. 2 are set to be completed by the end of December 2024. Runway 1 (T1) is expected to be finished by May 2025, Runway 2 (T2) by July 2025, with the entire 6.12 package to be completed by September 2, 2025 - three months ahead of the contract deadline.

After personally inspecting the site and receiving a progress report on Package 6.12, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised the efforts and organizational work of the contractors. “This intersection is being constructed beautifully, and the team is working very quickly. I thank the contractors, especially the engineers and workers, who, with the spirit of ‘eat quickly, sleep quickly’ are working day and night to accelerate progress”, the Prime Minister remarked.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited, offered encouragement and presented gifts to the officials, engineers and workers involved in the construction of Package 6.12.

The road connecting the two sections is taking shape. Prime Minister urged contractors to fully mobilize resources, machinery, and equipment to accelerate progress, with the goal of completing the connection by April 30, 2025. Additionally, Prime Minister encouraged competent contractors such as DEOCA Group, to take the lead, support and provide training to local contractors, enabling them to grow and develop the necessary skills for future large-scale projects.

Long Thanh International Airport is planned to be constructed on nearly 5,000 hectares in Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province, with a projected capacity to handle 100 million passengers and 25 million tons of cargo annually. Upon completion, Long Thanh International Airport will become the largest in the country, optimizing the use of state investment and positioning itself as a key regional and international transit hub.
