Another spring has arrived, and as families across the country prepare to welcome the Year of the Snake with hopes for the best, so do the people of Đèo Cả. Whether returning home after a year of hard work or staying on-site to celebrate Tet at the construction sites, each person carries emotions that are difficult to put into words.

The journeys that bring DEOCA People home for family reunions…

The festive spirit of Tet has permeated every corner of the country, and for those working far from home, the excitement of reuniting with loved ones grows stronger. With bags filled with gifts—both big and small—they eagerly embark on their journey back to their families. News reports highlight crowded train stations and bus terminals, where long lines of people wait to complete travel procedures, with many enduring hours of waiting before their departures.

Buses are prepared at the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Project Headquarters to transport workers home for Tet.

For DEOCA workers at construction sites throughout the country, the journey home for Tet has become less difficult. Employees no longer have to deal with the chaos of overcrowded train stations and airports, worry about missing their departure due to traffic jams, or struggle to secure expensive tickets. Every year, DEOCA Group organizes transportation for its employees, allowing them to return home for Tet and then smoothly return to their worksites without any hassle.

This year is no exception. For Tet At Ty, 24 dedicated buses organized by DEOCA Group have set off to reach each project site - bringing more than 1,000 DEOCA workers home. These buses transport workers from provinces such as Cao Bang, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Quang Binh, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Tra Vinh, and Ho Chi Minh City, ensuring that they can reunite with their families after a year of hard work away from home.

Phan Nhat Nguyen, a worker from Nghe An currently assigned to the vehicle and machinery management unit at Bac Ham 3 of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon project, shared his heartfelt feelings about returning home for Tet. He recalled how, in previous years, Tet was often accompanied by anxiety, train and bus tickets were scarce and expensive, sometimes costing double or even triple the usual fare. The overcrowded and uncomfortable journeys only added to the fatigue of traveling home.

Nguyen held a Tet gift bag from the company and expressed his gratitude, saying, "This is the third time I’ve been able to return home for Tet thanks to the company-arranged buses. My colleagues and I feel much more at ease this way, without the stress of searching for tickets as the year comes to a close. We truly appreciate the company's thoughtful care and support".

Hoang Đinh Thinh, Chief Commander of Bac Ham 3, emphasized that the Group's Administration and Human Resources Department worked closely with the project management team to carefully plan every detail of the workers' journey home. This included organizing transportation and developing detailed schedules to ensure the smoothest travel experience possible.

"Our engineers, technicians, and workers have dedicated themselves tirelessly to the construction site throughout the year. As the project progresses positively, the management has arranged for some of them to return home for Tet to reunite with their families. This initiative serves not only as a gesture of appreciation but also as motivation for them to return to the site with renewed energy and commitment," Thinh shared.

Pham Si Tuan, Chief Commander of That Khe Tunnel section, traveled from Cao Bang to his hometown in Ha Trung district, Thanh Hoa province, on one of the dedicated buses.

"While the eight-hour journey was somewhat tiring, I am delighted to be home to celebrate Tet with my wife and children," Tuan shared. He also noted that the Project Management Board had fully disbursed all salaries and Tet bonuses before the workers completed their final shift, allowing them to enjoy the holiday with peace of mind.

Tuan said the company will arrange transportation back to the construction site on the fourth day of Tet. He hopes the new year brings renewed energy and determination to keep the project on track.

As the homebound buses departed, carrying Đèo Cả employees back to their hometowns, the fatigue and challenges of work began to fade away. In this moment, they could fully embrace the joy of Tet, reuniting with their loved ones and cherishing the warmth of family.

… and Tet celebrations on the construction sites with DEOCA's "road workers"

At the Đèo Cả construction sites, the Tet spirit has fully arrived. It’s not only those heading home to reunite with their families who feel the joy of Tet; even those who stay on-site are well cared for by the Group. The atmosphere during Tet at the construction sites is vibrant, featuring Tet trees, pots of bánh chưng steaming in the air, and traditional Tet dishes that have been carefully prepared, filling the surroundings with their distinct and nostalgic flavors.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoang, a field technical officer at the Tunnel 3 project in Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon, shared, “This is my first time celebrating Tet at the construction site. After our work shifts, we all come together to wrap bánh chưng, cook together, and create a Tet atmosphere that feels as close to home as possible. In the evenings, in addition to calling home to check on our families, we sit together and share stories about our lives and work, which helps create a warm and cozy atmosphere.”

Normally, during this time of year, most people yearn to return home to reunite with their families and enjoy some well-deserved rest after a year of hard work. However, due to the overall project schedule, the "road builders" of DEOCA are sacrificing that precious time. They are staying on-site to ensure that the projects meet their deadlines as required.

Although Mr. Hoang is feeling a bit melancholic about not being able to reunite with his family during Tet this year, he remains positive. "Even though staying on-site during this time makes me feel sad and miss home due to my mission and the overall progress of the project, I am very proud to contribute to the completion of a major project on the North-South expressway. To me, as long as I have my health, I can continue to contribute," Mr. Hoang added.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh, who is from Thanh Hoa and currently working on the Dong Khe tunnel for the Dong Dang - Tra Linh project, shared his experience: "This year, I chose to stay and work through Tet, and the Group has taken great care to ensure our living conditions are comfortable and that we can celebrate Tet properly. My salary and the 13th-month bonus were paid in full. I kept a few million for personal expenses and sent the rest home to my wife and children to buy Tet essentials. During Tet, everyone wants to be with their family, but due to my mission and responsibility toward my work, I decided to stay and work through Tet to contribute to the team and ensure the project progresses as planned."

Mr. Khuong Van Cuong, CEO of DEOCA Group, stated that as Tet approaches each year, everyone desires to reunite with their family and loved ones. To ensure safety and support for workers across the country, the group arranges transportation to help employees return home for Tet. However, for key projects such as Dong Dang - Tra Linh, Huu Nghi - Chi Lang, and Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon, certain construction teams are required to work through Tet due to the nature of the work and the need to accelerate progress. The management has encouraged engineers, technicians, and workers to remain on-site during the Tet holiday to ensure that project milestones are met according to the planned schedule.

"The Group provides Tet gifts to all employees and arranges transportation for them to return home for the Tet holiday and bring them back to work afterward. All salary and bonus payments are fully processed before Tet. Additionally, the Trade Union of DEOCA Group gives gifts worth 500,000 VND to each employee in the system. For those who stay and work during Tet, the Board of Directors has instructed all projects to ensure a warm and festive atmosphere, along with the prescribed benefits," said Mr. Cuong.

For the people of DEOCA, Tet is not only a time for family reunions but also an opportunity to honor the road workers involved in various projects. Celebrating Tet at construction sites goes beyond sacrifice; it embodies the pride of both workers and engineers who have contributed to building projects of great significance for the country. For the road workers of DEOCA, Tet truly arrives when the projects are completed on time.

Supporting people on their journey home for Tet

In an effort to assist people traveling home for Tết, from January 24th to 26th, Đèo Cả Group set up gift distribution points and free water stations along the southern and northern ends of the Hai Van Tunnel, as well as on National Highway 1 through Khanh Hoa Province.

At the National Highway 1A section (Doc Ke - Tan Dan 2) and at the entrance of Ly Thuong Kiet secondary school in Van Ninh District (Khanh Hoa), DEOCA Infrastructure Investment JSC, in collaboration with local police, the Labor Federation, and the district health center, established rotating shifts to distribute gifts. These gifts included water, meals, bánh chưng, bánh tét, cooling towels, and medicine. They also provided resting areas for travelers to recharge before continuing their journey.

At both the northern and southern transfer points of the Hai Van Tunnel, DEOCA Group distributed over 2,000 bottles of water to travelers passing through the area. Additionally, along the routes managed by DEOCA, rescue, and assistance teams are on standby to provide free water and support in case any vehicles experience breakdowns. This initiative is part of DEOCA’s annual commitment to assist travelers during peak times, such as holidays and Tet, ensuring smoother journeys home for those returning to their families. The group continues to uphold these efforts as part of its broader community support program.
