On the morning of August 25, 2023, Deo Ca Group opened the left tunnel entrance south of the Tuy An tunnel. This is an important milestone to establish the progress of the following work, ensuring the completion of tunnel construction according to the set schedule in September 2024.
Tuy An Tunnel belongs to package XL01 of the component project of the Chi Thanh - Van Phong section, Eastern North-South Expressway, in the period 2021 - 2025, which is the critical progress item of the entire project. Opening the left tunnel entrance to the south of Tuy An tunnel ensures that the tunnel is dug before the rainy season arrives. Previously, at the end of July, the right southern tunnel door was opened, and so far, the Deoca contractor has dug 15m of tunnel.

According to the Executive Board of Package XL01 report, the contractor has mobilized 500 personnel, 220 motorbikes and equipment, and deployed 19 construction. 9/16 bridges are under construction. The tunnel is 53m/1,020m in length. The total completed output to date is 174/4303 billion, reaching 4%, basically meeting the schedule set by the Ministry of Transport.
On the same day, the contractor consortium sent a written request to the Ministry of Transport and Project Management Board 7 to organize work with the People's Committee of Phu Yen province and authorities at all levels to hand over the entire clean site before September 15, 2019. 2023 for the contractor consortium to carry out construction. Accordingly, the site clearance work is 22.85km/24km, reaching 95%. However, the area of land accessible for construction is only about 20.87/24km, reaching 87%.

Mr. Truong Cong Dat - Deputy Director of the Board of Management of the XL01 bidding package, said that some locations where the space is intermittently are due to many problems.
Right from the start of construction, the contractor consortium has actively coordinated with localities, investors, and related parties to speed up site clearance work. However, the land clearance situation has not yet been completely resolved. To partly ensure construction progress, the contractor proactively mobilized people to lend land to open public service roads in some locations. However, the contractor's representative said that this is only a temporary solution, although the contractor has implemented hygiene and traffic safety measures to minimize the impact on surrounding people's lives.
"We had to temporarily stop machinery and equipment at some construction sites because we could not get soil for the foundation. If not resolved soon, Phu Yen province will enter the rainy season, and excavating and embanking the road will be difficult. This not only causes economic loss to the contractor but, most importantly, affects the progress and overall quality of the entire project", the Deputy Director of the Steering Committee of the XL01 package emphasized.
Mr. Truong Cong Dat said that the contractor must pause some construction steps due to the alternate site
Currently, the package is being constructed by contractors day and night, taking advantage of the sunny weather to speed up progress before the locality enters the rainy and stormy season.
