Deoca Group has recently been granted a Utility Solution Patent by the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam for its “Method for Constructing Road Tunnels by Increasing Access Space”. The patent is the result of a long process of research and technical innovation drawn from practical experience in constructing mountain tunnels.
Under Decision No. 104955/QD-SHTT_IP dated July 17, 2026, issued by the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam, Deoca Group Joint Stock Company was granted a Utility Solution Patent for the “Method for Constructing Road Tunnels by Increasing Access Space,” marking the completion of the examination process and the official protection of the solution in Vietnam.

The solution was developed based on Deoca’s experience and strengths accumulated through the investment and construction of major tunnel projects, including Deo Ca, Cu Mong, Hai Van, Thung Thi and Truong Vinh tunnels, as well as the tunnels under Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon Expressway project.
In road tunnel construction, limited working space often means that machinery, equipment and work teams can only operate sequentially, making it difficult to carry out multiple activities simultaneously. Under weak geological conditions, the limited stand-up time of the rock mass after excavation also imposes stringent requirements on the speed of ground support and the organization of construction activities.

Drawing on practical experience, Deoca engineers developed a method of dividing the tunnel cross-section and reorganizing the construction space to create multiple access areas instead of concentrating activities at a single excavation face.
This arrangement allows excavation, ground support, muck removal and tunnel finishing works to be organized more flexibly and carried out simultaneously at multiple locations. As a result, manpower and equipment can be utilized more efficiently while reducing the concentration of machinery within confined spaces.
At Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon Expressway project, the method of increasing access space was applied during construction of Duc Pho and Huan Phong tunnels, helping the two tunnels to be completed three to four months ahead of schedule.
The solution was subsequently applied at Binh De Tunnel, which is more than 3.2 km long. During construction, contractors encountered weak geological zones where excavation progress at times slowed to only 1-3 meters per day. The Project Management Board therefore divided the tunnel cross-section into multiple excavation faces, reduced vibration and flexibly organized construction fronts to maintain safety and progress. In April 2025, the right tube of Binh De Tunnel achieved breakthrough six months ahead of schedule.
Together with increased manpower and equipment and the coordinated implementation of various management and engineering solutions, the improved tunneling method contributed to reducing the construction period of Binh De Tunnel from 1,260 days to approximately 990 days.
Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon Expressway was subsequently inaugurated on December 19, 2025, eight months ahead of the contractual schedule.
The granting of the Utility Solution Patent recognizes the research achievements of Deoca’s engineering team while providing a legal foundation for the Group to manage, standardize and further develop intellectual property generated from practical construction activities.
