In order to well implement the plan to handle incidents of fire, explosion and rescue, and provide absolute safety and protection for the project at Deo Ca Tunnel, on December 19, 2019, the Tunnel Operation Management factory coordinated with the authorities of Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces to rehear fire prevention and rescue at Deo Ca tunnel, level 3A.

With the assumed situation that a truck with a capacity of 3.5 tons carrying scrap fabric is passing through Deo Ca tunnel in the direction of Phu Yen - Khanh Hoa with the speed of 60 km / h when reaching Km4 + 700, about 885m from the north entrance and 3.240m from the south, was suddenly short-circuited, causing a fire in the front of the cabin and the fire quickly covered the entire cabin, there were at risk of fire spreading to the truck’s body. In the tunnel at the moment there are 18 cars in circulation. The fire has injured and trapped 1 person, need emergency rescue.

Through surveillance cameras and traffic sensors, the Operations Center detected and quickly announced the closure of the tunnel for incident resolving. At the same time, mobilize the on-site fire fighting force to put out the fire and coordinate with the traffic police force to arrange traffic flow so that rescue vehicles of the competent agencies can promtly access the scene to participate in handling the incident, take the injured to emergency care and pull the damaged car to a safe place.

The drill are aimed at strengthening the coordination among the relevant units in organizing fire fighting and rescue, proactively handling fire and explosion incidents, ensuring the fire safety conditions and rescue in the operation of Deo Ca Tunnel as well as raising the professional skills of fire fighting and rescue for the on-site forces with the goal of minimizing damage to people and properties when incidents occur in Deo Ca tunnels.
